I started my career at the San Diego Voice and Viewpoint as an intern. I edited and wrote many stories during my time there. One of my stories even made it to the cover of the paper.
After that, I was the Arts and Culture Editor at one of the news publications at my school called “The Lion.” I published an investigative piece there about the LAPD’s response to mental health crises. I was also able to interview S.S. Rajamouli about his movie “RRR,” the day after it won an Oscar. This story has been nominated for a National Arts and Entertainment Journalism award for the “Best Arts or Entertainment News Story” in the student journalism category.
I studied audio journalism under Professor Cat Schuknect who, at the time, worked at Gimlet Media. I have developed a strong passion for audio stories and have become skilled in using editing software.
Most recently, I was a Utility Journalism Intern at the Los Angeles Times. In my time there, I published and contributed to over 15 stories. The Utility Team taught me the value of accessibility of information to the masses. I pitched all my own stories with my most popular one being an explainer of how concert tickets got so expensive and ways for fans to get tickets for less that garnered almost 100,000 views.
