Portfolio

I started my career at the San Diego Voice and Viewpoint as an intern. I edited and wrote many stories during my time there. One of my stories even made it to the cover of the paper.

After that, I was the Arts and Culture Editor at one of the news publications at my school called “The Lion.” I published an investigative piece about the LAPD’s response to mental health crises. I was also able to interview S.S. Rajamouli about his movie “RRR,” the day after it won an Oscar. This story was nominated for a National Arts and Entertainment Journalism award for the “Best Arts or Entertainment News Story” in the student journalism category.

In Summer 2023, I was a Utility Journalism Intern at the Los Angeles Times. In my time there, I published and contributed to dozens of stories. The Utility Team taught me the value of accessibility to information. My most popular story was an explainer of how concert tickets got so expensive and ways for fans to get tickets for less that garnered almost 100,000 views.

More recently, I was an apprentice for the iconic Southern California Public Radio (LAist) show AirTalk, with Larry Mantle. This position was akin to a crash course in producing. It was incredibly valuable to learn from that crew about what it takes to run a successful show that has been on air for 40 years. In my time at the organization I was also able to step outside the bounds of my role and report a few of my own stories.
